Hamilton never disappoint in bringing out a range of beautiful eye-catching designs each year for the Baselworld fair in Switzerland, and this year is no exception! Here we look at a few pieces that deliver on quality, precision and style, yet remain an affordable investment to add to your Hamilton collections.
Firstly we look at a member of the American Classic Timeless Classics family. The Hamilton American Classic Timeless Classics Railroad Skeleton watch priced at £995.00 takes on a completely new aesthetic compared to the designs that we are used to seeing from the masters that create timekeeping instruments, infused with American spirit and Swiss precision. Taking the brand back to its roots in the nineteenth century, Hamilton were proud to receive the title of “The Watch of Railroad Accuracy” after contributing to a number of innovative methods to improve the accuracy of time keeping and reduce the events associated with preventable accidents in the railroad community. The new design of the Hamilton Railroad skeleton has effectively transformed the look of the classic styles into a modernistic masterpiece. Built from stainless steel with brushed effect, the watch’s sharp black and silver dial creates the perfect stage for a number of unique elements to burst through. The ultra-sleek timepiece is penetrated by striking red hues from the seconds hand and contrast stitching used for the black leather strap, whilst a set of steel hour and minute indices almost melt into the dynamic arrangement of the exposed movement. The Hamilton lettering emanates from just below the 12th hour mark, cementing the brand’s prestigious reputation in producing highly refined Swiss engineered mechanical timepieces with a contemporary edge.
The next watch that we look at from the Hamilton experts since 1892, offers you the most for your money and this is down to the quality of the movement which powers the organs of the timepiece. The Hamilton Jazzmaster Day Date Auto priced at £850.00, houses the exclusive H-40 calibre which offers an impressive 80 hours of power reserve! The 42mm automatic is manufactured to withstand water depths of 50 meters whilst also providing supreme anti reflective and scratch resistant qualities within its sapphire crystal glass front. The appealing features built into the Hamilton Jazzmaster Day Date speak for themselves in that a truly unique look is achieved through its minimalistic dial layout. The date aperture of this watch for example, mounted onto a white background rests at the south end of the watch, whilst the day is written in full lettering in a soft arc design, also featured on a white background to offer maximum impact and clear legibility. For a contemporary design, the Hamilton Jazzmaster Day Date achieves an understated sophistication, with wearer-friendly dimensions which sit neatly on the wrist, delivering reliability in all situations. The timepiece is available on a black or silver dial with finishes in either stainless steel or rose gold for those opting for a more elegant look.
Next, the Hamilton Jazzmaster GMT Auto (product number H32685731) priced at £1150.00. With consistent qualities found in every Hamilton watch of the American Classic Jazzmaster collection, the limited addition of 999 pieces adopts a new-age visual appeal whilst remaining faithful to the brand’s core strengths. Precision is achieved through its highly reliable 2893-2 calibre which acts as the energy source of the timepiece, whilst its stainless steel casing has been coated in a deep anthracite grey PVD to keep in line with its strong contemporary feel. A date window sits above the 6 o clock mark giving good balance to the matching dark anthracite dial and a red hue is given to the seconds hand and twelfth hour baton to create a playful vibe. The Hamilton Jazzmaster GMT Auto offers the time across 24 time zones and is finished on an authentic grey strap with white contrast stitching and a stainless steel fasten for wearer comfort. Mirroring the brand’s drive in producing dynamic pieces with exceptional functionality, the watch has also been finished with a resilient sapphire crystal glass front to lock out 50 meters of water depths and prevent the reflection of light.
Finally we look at the Hamilton Khaki Navy Pioneer Auto Chrono (product number H77706553) Priced at £1470.00. Taking inspiration from the Marine Chronometer which was developed for the US Navy as an essential instrument for ship navigation during World War II, the watch inhibits the same trend with its military driven background. The 44mm stainless steel watch with screwed-in crown, hosts an up-to-the-minute movement – the H10 with ETA. The escapement regulator within this movement facilitates optimal precision and reliability and the entire kinematic chain has recently been refined by Hamilton watch makers, from the escapement right through to the barrel. The design of the watch uses simple elements to create an eye catching finish. The white dial and striking Persian blue hour and minute indices, interact with the brown tones of its leather strap with white contrast stitching, creating a vintage-infused aesthetic. Paying tribute to their Army Navy E Award in 1942 after producing the most accurate chronometer ever developed, Hamilton pay homage to their history in supporting the US Navy with keen military focus and what better way to represent this than in the form of a beautiful new timepiece?!
