As LVMH Watch Week begins in Singapore, we’re inundated with a fresh collection of new 2023 watches including two designs from TAG Heuer. Alongside a new Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph watch, which we’ll be getting our hands on in the next few days, the Swiss watchmaker has added a new smartwatch to its coveted Connected collection. The TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 Sport Edition smartwatch reveals a set of changes perfect for the fitness fanatic. Let’s take a look at what’s new for the TAG Heuer Connected Sport Edition…
Barometer & Trail and Hiking Application
Two new features debuting on the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 Sport Edition watch, perfect for those that like to track the gradients of their sport activities, is the barometer and Trail & Hiking application. The barometer has always been a part of the Connected watch but until now, TAG Heuer wasn’t making much use of it. Now with a software upgrade that is planned in mid-February, this component will finally be accessible as part of a new feature the luxury watch brand calls the Trail & Hiking application.
The Trail & Hiking app will change the main metric to altitude gain and allows the user to monitor their efforts during a session, whether it be an uphill run or a hike up a mountain. You can also track your adventure on the TAG Heuer companion app and review features like your pace and how altitude affected it. Lastly, the new TAG Heuer Connected Sport Edition smartwatch’s Trail & Hiking application comes with an additional screen so the user can track their altitude and see the minimum and maximum altitude during the session.
New Strap
The TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 Sport Edition smartwatch also features a new rubber strap to pair with its new sweat-promoting app. Rubber allows your skin to breathe much better compared to leather or metal bands and can still be just as aesthetically pleasing on the wrist. The fine mesh design comes in three colours: red, green or orange. The strap is then secured by a pin buckle rather than a deployment clasp as seen on previous TAG Heuer Connected straps. Since wrists gain volume while exercising, the pin buckle is better for allowing the strap to fit perfectly to your body. The buckle is engineered from lightweight black coated titanium for a sophisticated finish.
Rubber Insert Crown
The last improvement to the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 Sport Edition smartwatch is the subtle, but essential addition of a rubber insert crown. The black coated stainless steel crown is now tipped with a waterproof rubber insert on the end. This makes it easier to grip, whether you have dry, sweaty or wet hands.
Additional Features of the Connected Calibre E4 Sport Edition
Other than that mentioned above, the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 Sport Edition watch maintains all the traits of the previous Connected Calibre E4 smartwatches launched last year. There’s a 45mm black coated titanium case, a scratch-proof ceramic bezel, a 50 metre water resistant rating and sapphire crystal glass for protection of the OLED display. As for the technology within, the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 Sport Edition smartwatch elects the Wear OS by Google operating system and the Qualcomm® Snapdragon WearTM processor. These provide features like Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS, GLONASS and Galileo navigational systems, heart rate, compass, accelerometer, gyroscope, NFC and microphone. You’ll also get all the latest customisable watch faces and the TAG Heuer Sports Watch app with preloaded profiles for running, cycling, swimming, fitness, golf, wellness and trail.
