Modern, strong and available in a fantastic selection of colours, this new release is an important step for Breitling as they re-enter themselves back into the professional sports watch game while still remaining entirely faithful to their original DNA.
Just as their motto “Instruments for Professionals” describes, the Breitling Professional watch collection was designed especially for professionals of all kinds in their field. All pieces within the series are super sporty, super lightweight and powered by one of the brand’s iconic SuperQuartz movements, a thermocompensated calibre that is 10 times more accurate than standard quartz. The Breitling Professional Endurance Pro see’s the brand dive even further into the world of sport with a design engineered exclusively for professional athletes like that of the Breitling Triathlon Squad. The squad consists of Jan Froderno, Chris McCormack and Daniela Ryf, all multiple Iron Man World Champions.
While remaining almost entirely contemporary, the new Breitling Professional Endurance Pro watch incorporates subtle nods to the brand’s history. The design takes inspiration from a 1970s Breitling watch called the Spring. It combined a pulsometer with a lightweight resin design that was contrived especially for athletes that needed to check their heart rate on something comfortable and lightweight for the wrist. During the webcast Daniela Ryf described the Breitling Professional Endurance Pro as “the lightest watch I’ve ever worn.” The lightweight properties is gained entirely from the use of Breitlight, an innovative in-house material designed by Breitling. Each case measures to 44mm in size and is 3.3. times lighter than titanium, 5.8 times lighter than steel, nonmagnetic, thermally stable, hypoallergenic, and totally scratch proof. It also has a touch that is warmer than metal and showcases a slightly textured effect that brings a true originality to the design.
The cases of each Breitling Professional Endurance Pro watch are also equipped with a bi-directional compass bezel, rubberized screw in crown, sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment on both sides and a screw down case back assisting in the water resistant rating of 100 metres. The smooth black dial is decorated with accents of your chosen colour choice, Superluminova coated hands and indexes and a steeply sloped pulsometer chapter ring also brightly illuminated in colour. You can also choose from a rubber strap or one of their newly iconic colourful Outerknown ECONYL yarn NATO straps.
Powering the Breitling Endurance Pro is their Caliber 82 SuperQuartz movement which delivers exceptional precision and has been COSC certified to -4 to +6 seconds per day. It provides classic central hands for hours and minutes, central chronograph seconds, small seconds at 6 o’clock and two chronograph counters for 30 minutes and 12 hours. It also includes a subtle yet convenient date window between 4 and 5 o’clock. Many might argue the dial is a little cluttered but for an athlete or even someone with a busy lifestyle will certainly appreciate the array of functions available.
