Our regular readers here will by now know that Panerai watches are closely associated with classic yachting. From 2010 the ninth British Classic Yacht Club Cowes Regatta is to form part of the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge Circuit as part of a three year sponsorship programme.
In 2009 the circuit included eight of the World’s leading Classic Yacht Regattas, including the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta and Régates Royales in Cannes. The British Classic Yacht Club Cowes Regatta will be the first British yachting regatta to join Panerai’s international Circuit. In all, over 350 yachts and some 1,500 crews competed in the Circuit during 2009, which starts in April and ends in September.
Angelo Bonatis, CEO of Officine Panerai, said in a statement released recently, “We are delighted to align Panerai with the British Classic Yacht Club Cowes Regatta. The reputation, professionalism and camaraderie demonstrated by the British Classic Yacht Cub not to mention Cowes Regatta’s position as the key classic yacht event in the UK yachting calendar make them an ideal partner for Panerai.”
From now, the Cowes Regatta will be known as The British Classic Yacht Club Panerai Cowes Regatta. And as before, it will take place in the tidal waters of the Solent, the stretch of sea separating the Isle of Wight from the mainland of England, and will take place from Sunday 18th to Saturday 24th July 2010.
