Louis Erard X Alain Silberstein Blanc Limited Edition Collection Review

Louis Erard and Alain Silberstein are back, this time with a new diptych of watches offering crisp white backdrops and colourful, geometric hardware. Limited to 178 pieces each, the Le Régulateur Louis Erard x Alain Silberstein Blanc and the La Semaine Louis Erard x Alain Silberstein Blanche once again ensure Louis Erard a place on the luxury watch map.

Back in 2019, Swiss watch manufacturer Louis Erard gave legendary watch designer Alain Silberstein free reign to create a watch embodied under both brand’s aesthetics. The result was the highly successful Excellence Regulator which sold out almost instantly on release. Two years later, the pair collaborated again, this time releasing the Le Triptyque Louis Erard x Alain Silberstein, a trio of limited editions neglecting the classic shaped case and welcoming an expressive titanium-constructed architecture. The series included La Semaine, Le Regulateur II, and Le Chrono Monopoussoir with 178 pieces of each, all offering jet black faces decorated with a blue, red and yellow graphics.

For the new 2022 Louis Erard Alain Silberstein Blanc collaboration, the brand celebrate the power of the number two with a ‘Diptych’. This time, only the La Semaine and Le Régulateur return offering matte white dials and grey straps alongside the same spellbinding, colourful and illustrative design as last year’s collection. Just as that was, we highly expect this new duo of timepieces to sell out instantly, so we can’t stress this enough – if you want one, get it now! Louis Erard are once again offering both limited editions in a Diptych Set, or you can order them separately.

Le Régulateur Louis Erard x Alain Silberstein Blanc

The Le Régulateur is a flagship design for Louis Erard and so it makes perfect sense to see it return in the new 2022 Louis Erard X Alain Silberstein Blanc Limited Edition collection. Its design sees the hours, minutes and seconds separated, the former positioned in a subsidiary dial at 12 o’clock and the latter in a small seconds dial at 6 o’clock. The minutes stays in the centre. This set up is retained in the Le Régulateur Louis Erard x Alain Silberstein Blanc watch with a large graphic arrow-shaped minutes hand in blue, the hours in red and the seconds indicated by a pleasant wiggly yellow hand.

The case of the Le Régulateur Louis Erard Alain Silberstein Blanc mirrors those of the Triptyque collaboration of last year, utilising micro-blasted grade 2 titanium and polished grade 5 titanium to engineer a unique central container fixed by vertical sidebars which extend up to the lugs. The case measures to 40mm in diameter with a lug-to-lug width of 47mm and yet thanks to the supple nylon strap in grey with hook and loop system, it sits happily on our smaller-than-average sized wrists. Inside, and displayed through a sapphire crystal case back, the élaboré-grade Sellita SW266-1 movement runs the hours, minutes and seconds while providing a power reserve of 38 hours and a frequency of 28,800vph. The Le Régulateur Louis Erard x Alain Silberstein Blanc watch is a limited edition of 178 pieces.

La Semaine Louis Erard x Alain Silberstein Blanche

The second model in the Diptych is the La Semaine Louis Erard x Alain Silberstein Blanche watch, another limited edition of 178 pieces but one that offers additional complications including the date and weekday – sort of. Once again, the hours is separated, this time positioned at the 9 o’clock marker in red while the minutes and seconds are both positioned in the centre in the same blue and yellow colour. The date complication remains classic in a regular box shaped aperture while the weekday function exchanges its typical character format for a series of smiley faces. The week begins on a Monday with a grumpy face which you see get progressively gets happier as the days go by and the weekend gets closer.

The unique range of complications are driven by the ETA 2863-2 automatic winding movement with a frequency of 28,800vph and 38 hours of power reserve. Again, the movement can be seen through a sapphire crystal case back. As for the case of the La Semaine Louis Erard Alain Silberstein Blanche Limited Edition, the same titanium exterior is elected with a 40mm diameter and a lug-to-lug width of 47mm. There is also the same grey nylon hook-and-loop strap with a grade 2 titanium clasp, sapphire crystal glass on top, a clean matte silver dial which is basically white in person, and a 100 metre water resistance.
